Frequently Asked Convention Questions


1) Is airfare included in my registration cost?

No, airfare is not included in your room reservation and registration fee. You are responsible for your
airfare, rental car, and meals not covered in FCM’s meal plan.

2) Can I carry-on my child’s liquid medication on the plane?

Please check TSA’s requirements when flying with a person who has special needs:

3) What’s the weather like in Arizona in June?

According to the National Weather Service Forecast office, the average temperature for Phoenix in June
of 2009 was 89.8 degrees Fahrenheit. Average Low was 75.6 degrees Fahrenheit.

4) Will there be a refrigerator in my room?

All rooms are equipped with a mini-bar fridge. All of our families are welcome to clear out the fridge that
is already in the room and use it for your personal items (food, drinks, medication, etc.). We cannot
guarantee that these mini bar fridges will be big enough or cold enough to house all of your needs.
Therefore: you have the OPTION to rent out an additional fridge for $45.00/per stay, that will be there
specifically to keep your medications and foods at the appropriate temperature. This fee is for the whole
stay, NOT per day.

5) Is there a shuttle from the airport to the Resort?

Unfortunately, Fairmont does not have a shuttle that travels from the Phoenix Airport to the resort.
There are many shuttle services available that you can coordinate transportation with, or there is always
the option of a rental car.

Please keep in mind that many rental car companies offer discounts to members of certain
organizations: (AARP, AAA, Costco) check with your favorite rental car company to see what discounts
they offer and if your family applies!

6) Where do I go to eat when FCM does not provide the meal?

The hotel has many onsite restaurants to choose from ranging in types of food and price point. Upon
arrival FCM will provide you with a local dining guide that will direct you to places to eat in the area not
on the Resort Campus. Please do not forget the option of going down to the local grocery store and
picking up snacks for your hotel room, or have a pizza ordered in!

7) How do I meet with Dr. Dobyns and what do I have to bring to my appointment?

If you would like an appointment with Dr. Dobyns and the other top physicians attending, please check
the appropriate box on the registration form.  There is a $35.00 surcharge to see the doctors.  After we
receive your registration form and payment, we will contact you to set up an appointment and inform you
of all the necessary paperwork you will need to submit prior to the appointment.


8) What airports can I fly in to and which airlines fly to Phoenix? The closest, and largest airport is
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). Airlines that fly in to the airport are as follows:





















   


9) Is there an agenda for the Convention?

10) I am bringing my typical child too, what can my typical child do at the Convention?

We will have a sibling room dedicated to the typical children attending our Convention, that will be in the
same area as the seminars and sensory room. Past sibling room activities have been: art and crafts,
dance lessons, karate lessons, etc. The Fairmont Kids Club is a complimentary service to over-night
guests and could be a great resource for your typical children ages 5-12. More information at the

11) What is there to do at the Resort when we are not participating in the convention activities?

Swimming, fitness center, golf, Willow Stream Spa, Kid’s Club, shopping, fine dining. Please see the

12) Will the resort have rollaway beds or cribs?

Yes, the Resort will have cribs on hand but we need to know in advance if you are going to need one for
your child. Please indicate on your registration form if you need a rollaway bed or a crib.
